Жанрово-поетикальні особливості прози Кадзуо Ішіґуро

Abstract

У роботі проаналізовано романи Кадзуо Ішіґуро «Не відпускай мене» та «Похований велетень» із точки зору їхніх жанрових і поетикальних рис, центральних тем. У ході дослідження було проведено порівняльний аналіз двох романів із виокремленням характеристик, властивих як кожному твору окремо, так і обом одночасно. Окреслено способи застосування поліжанровості для розкриття основних тематичних аспектів, проаналізовано особливості тематики, структуру нарації й фокалізації в обох романах. Встановлено риси ідіостилю Кадзуо Ішіґуро та його індивідуальної поетики, а також визначено унікальні характеристики досліджуваних творів.

The work analyzes Kazuo Ishiguro's novels "Never Let Me Go" and "The Buried Giant" from the point of view of their genre and poetic features, central themes. The aim of the work is to identify the features of the author's prose in the two novels – both separately and jointly, as examples of Ishiguro’s writing. To achieve this goal the study completes, among others, the following tasks: to establish common themes and motifs of the novels "Never Let Me Go" and "The Buried Giant"; to analyze how the narrators of both novels tell the story and establish a connection with the reader; to identify the features of the composition of both novels and the role of its elements in revealing the main themes of the texts; to explore the distinctive genre features of "Never Let Me Go" and "The Buried Giant" and the importance of the use of multiple genres for the realization of the themes of the novels. The main method the work employs is that of comparative analysis. The study conducts a comparative analysis of two novels, highlighting the characteristics inherent in each work separately and both simultaneously. It also outlines the methods of using different genres to reveal the main thematic aspects, and analyzes the features of the subject matter, the structure of the narration and focalization in both novels. It establishes the features of Kazuo Ishiguro's idiostyle and his individual poetics, and determines the unique characteristics of the novels under study. So, the study achieves its goal by analyzing the poetic features of Kazuo Ishiguro’s writing.
