Мак’юена «Машини, як я» у контексті етичних та філософських питань цифрової доби. Досліджується художня картина світу в альтернативній реальності в основі якої тема створення та використання штучного інтелекту. І. Мак’юен ефективно впливає на сприйняття читачів за допомогою подання більш високорозвиненого штучного інтелекту щодо реально існуючого насправді. Конфлікт роману полягає у конфронтації головних героїв: Чарлі та андроїда - робота Адама. У ході розвитку сюжету Адам не дозволяє Чарлі себе об’єктивувати. Під час написання роботи було визначено що концептуальна цінність моделі художнього світу, на основі роману «Машини, як я» І. Мак’юена, полягає у розкритті важливих проблем сьогодення та найближчого майбутнього. В ході роботи були сформовані та надані відповіді на важливі питання та поняття, а саме: визначення поняття штучного інтелекту у науковому та філософському аспектах, етичні питання використання штучного інтелекту, встановлення актуальності теми штучного інтелекту у сучасній літературі, виділення художнього зображення штучного інтелекту у романі та проведено паралелі етичного аналізу моральних дилем. У романі письменник звертається до внутрішнього світу людини, задається питаннями про критерії людяності, про принципи моралі та етики по відношенню до високорозвинених інтелектуальних машин, про специфіку подвійного ставлення людської спільноти до роботів у сучасному світі. Було проаналізовано та встановлено що робот не може бути вірним хаосу людських неоднозначносте: емоційній не стабільності, схильності до упередженості, помилок у судженнях. Штучний розум не може існувати без правил, за якими йому слід жити.; This thesis examines Ian McEwan's novel Machines Like Me in the context of ethical and philosophical issues of the digital age. It explores the artistic picture of the world in an alternative reality based on the theme of the creation and use of artificial intelligence. I. McEwan effectively influences readers' perceptions by presenting a more highly developed artificial intelligence than actually exists in reality. The conflict of the novel lies in the confrontation between the main characters: Charlie and the android Adam. As the plot develops, Adam does not allow Charlie to objectify him. While writing this work, it was determined that the conceptual value of the model of the artistic world, based on I. McEwan's novel “Machines Like Me,” lies in revealing important problems of the present and the near future. In the course of the work, answers to important questions and concepts were formed and provided, namely: defining the concept of artificial intelligence in scientific and philosophical terms, ethical issues of using artificial intelligence, establishing the relevance of the topic of artificial intelligence in contemporary literature, highlighting the artistic representation of artificial intelligence in the novel, and drawing parallels with the ethical analysis of moral dilemmas. n the novel, the author explores the inner world of humans, posing questions about the criteria for humanity, principles of morality and ethics in relation to highly developed intellectual machines, and the duality of human society's attitude toward robots in the modern world. It was analyzed and established that a robot cannot be faithful to the chaos of human ambiguities: emotional instability, prone to bias, errors in judgment. Artificial intelligence cannot exist without rules by which it must live. The scientific data on artificial intelligence, organically woven into the plot of the work by the author, seem plausible. However, it should be noted that “intelligence and consciousness” are completely different things. Intelligence is the ability to solve problems. Consciousness is the ability to feel pain, joy, love, or anger. Аналізується специфіка авторської інтерпретації взаємозв'язків між технологічним прогресом, корпоративним капіталізмом, екологічною деградацією та постгуманістичними трансформаціями людства. Під час написання роботи було визначено теоретичні засади поняття екологічної катастрофи, охарактеризовано еко-критику як науковий підхід до літератури, проаналізовано місце Маргарет Етвуд у традиції еко-дистопії, досліджено художнє зображення конфлікту природи та технокультури, виявлено художні засоби зображення екологічного колапсу та проаналізовано персонажів як носіїв різних ідеологічних позицій щодо природи та науки.; The paper examines the artistic representation of environmental catastrophes in Margaret Atwood's novel "Oryx and Crake" through the lens of ecocritical methodology. The specificity of the author's interpretation of the interconnections between technological progress, corporate capitalism, environmental degradation, and posthumanist transformations of humanity is analyzed. The research investigates how Atwood constructs a dystopian vision of ecological collapse through narrative techniques, symbolism, and character development, revealing the ethical implications of unchecked scientific experimentation and corporate exploitation of natural resources. During the writing of the work, the theoretical foundations of the concept of environmental catastrophe were defined, ecocriticism was characterized as a scientific approach to literature with particular attention to its evolution and methodological frameworks, Margaret Atwood's place in the tradition of eco-dystopia was analyzed in the context of contemporary speculative fiction, the artistic depiction of the conflict between nature and technoculture was investigated through textual analysis, artistic means of depicting environmental collapse were identified including metaphor, imagery, and narrative structure, and characters were analyzed as bearers of different ideological positions regarding nature and science, examining how their interactions reflect broader societal tensions between environmental preservation and technological advancement. The study demonstrates how "Oryx and Crake" serves as both a cautionary tale and a profound meditation on humanity's relationship with the natural world in an age of biotechnological innovation and ecological crisis. У художньому просторі епічного фентезі елементи вестиментарної системи функціонують не лише як декоративне тло, а й як щільне семіотичне поле, що кодує соціальний статус, етнографічні реалії, генеалогію та психологічний стан персонажів. Метою роботи є комплексне висвітлення специфіки та стратегій відтворення англомовного вестиментарного коду засобами української мови. Для досягнення мети вирішено такі завдання: систематизовано теоретичні підходи до визначення культурних кодів; виокремлено базові компоненти вестиментарної системи роману; з’ясовано домінантні перекладацькі стратегії, тактики й трансформації та оцінено ступінь збереження семіотичного потенціалу оригіналу в тексті перекладу. Матеріал досліджено за допомогою дескриптивного методу, методу семіотичного та компонентного аналізу, а також методу порівняльно-перекладацького аналізу (зіставлення оригінального тексту Джорджа Мартіна з його українською версією у виконанні Наталії Тисовської). Дослідженням доведено, що переклад вестиментарного коду у жанрі фентезі вимагає балансування між стратегіями форенізації (збереження колориту) та доместикації (адаптації для реципієнта). Виявлено, що для відтворення матеріальної культури вигаданого середньовіччя перекладачка ефективно застосовує історичні та архаїзовані лексеми української мови. Такий підхід дозволяє компенсувати прагматичні втрати та зберегти високий соціокультурний статус описуваних об’єктів. Водночас зафіксовано випадки семантичного зсуву та стилістичного зниження, зокрема заміна колоративної символіки або переклад термінів озброєння, що дещо нівелює епічну тональність оригіналу. Доведено, що вестиментарний код у тексті тісно інтегрується з кодом тілесної ідентичності (через опис зачісок та очей персонажів). Установлено, що український переклад роману загалом адекватно відтворює багаторівневу семіотичну систему оригіналу завдяки гнучкому застосуванню лексико-семантичних трансформацій та компенсації. Результати дослідження мають довгострокове значення для теоретичного осмислення перекладу художньої семіотики. Матеріали та висновки роботи рекомендується використовувати у практиці викладання курсів із теорії та практики художнього перекладу, лінгвокультурології, семіотики тексту, а також під час розробки практичних рекомендацій для перекладачів художньої літератури в жанрі епічного фентезі.; The study is devoted to the linguistic-translation analysis of the vestimentary code (semiotics of clothing, weapons, heraldic elements and bodily markings) in modern English-language fantasy discourse and the specifics of its reproduction in Ukrainian translation. In the artistic space of epic fantasy, the elements of the vestimentary system function not only as a decorative background, but also as a dense semiotic field that encodes the social status, ethnographic realities, genealogy and psychological state of the characters. The aim of the work is to comprehensively highlight the specifics and strategies of reproducing the English-language vestimentary code using the means of the Ukrainian language. To achieve the goal, the following tasks were complete: theoretical approaches to the definition of cultural codes were systematized; the basic components of the vestimentary system of the novel were identified; the dominant translation strategies, tactics and transformations were clarified and the degree of preservation of the semiotic potential of the original in the translated text was assessed. The material was studied using the descriptive method, the method of semiotic and component analysis, as well as the method of comparative translation analysis (comparison of the original text by George Martin with its Ukrainian version performed by Natalia Tysovska). The study proved that the translation of the vestimentary code in the fantasy genre requires a balance between the strategies of foreignization (preservation of color) and domestication (adaptation for the recipient). It was found that to recreate the material culture of the fictional Middle Ages, the translator effectively uses historical and archaic lexemes of the Ukrainian language. This approach allows to compensate for pragmatic losses and preserve the high socio-cultural status of the described objects. At the same time, cases of semantic shift and stylistic decline were recorded, in particular, the replacement of colorative symbolism or the translation of terms of armament, which somewhat levels the epic tonality of the original. It is proven that the vestimentary code in the text is closely integrated with the code of bodily identity (through the description of the characters' hairstyles and eyes). It is established that the Ukrainian translation of the novel generally adequately reproduces the multi-level semiotic system of the original due to the flexible use of lexical-semantic transformations and compensation. The results of the study have long-term significance for the theoretical understanding of the translation of artistic semiotics. The materials and conclusions of the work are recommended to be used in the practice of teaching courses on the theory and practice of artistic translation, linguoculturology, semiotics of the text, as well as in the development of practical recommendations for translators of fiction in the genre of epic fantasy. Визначено семантичні ознаки словоформ, лексичний склад та граматичні категорії тексту. внутрішню форму перекладу для збереження адекватності перекладу.; Qualifying Master`s Thesis, for the degree of “Master” in the specialty 035 Philology, specializations 035.041 Germanic Languages and Literatures (including translation), the first – English, Chubay Valetyna Ivanivna devoted to the study of the translation of environmental discourse terminology (based on English language materials) with the aim of identifying lexical and stylistic features of the translation of professional terms. The work consists of an introduction, three chapters, conclusions for each of them, general conclusions, a summary, a list of references, which includes 65 sources, and 3 appendices. The introduction substantiates the relevance of this study, outlines its object and goal, and identifies specific tasks. The first section illustrates the concept of a term and a term system through the prism of translation. The second section is devoted to methods of creating terms in environmental discourse through componential and structural analysis. The third section analyses the lexical and stylistic features of the translation of professional terms into Ukrainian. Conclusions are drawn for each section. The conclusion presents the results of the study and draws conclusions. And, various ways of manifestation of concepts are analysed. Categorical features of phrasal terms are established in order to determine the internal form of translation to maintain the adequacy of the translation. A structural-stylistic analysis was conducted to determine the lexical-stylistic features of the translation of English terms and the functional characteristics of phraseological units of professional discourse. The semantic features of word forms, lexical composition and grammatical categories of the text are determined. The internal form of translation is determined to preserve the adequacy of the translations. The conclusions highlight the results of this study.
